In Loving Memory

Simba Marie Ness
1994-2005

She was the best dog anyone could ask for. She never barked except when someone came into our yard or knocked on our door. Even then, it was only a warning bark. Of course, this did not apply to the many mailmen she had seen in her lifetime. They were intruders and they warranted more.

Simba loved people. She would get excited whenever someone would come in our home. She loved to greet everyone with her tail wagging madly behind her, thumping into everything that go into its way, and her mouth smiling in its own doggy sort of way.

Simba loved her walks. And boy do I mean love. All I had to do was mention the word walk and she would jump in circles, point to her leash and run straight to the door. The whole walk she would hold her head up like the proud dog she was. She knew that she was special and loved.

Simba was smart too. She knew the difference between walk (leash and front door) and outside (backdoor) She also knew when I was upset. If I were crying she would come up to me and look at me with her puppy dog eyes. Then she would gently place her head in my lap and lay there until I stopped crying. She would then pick her head up and start licking the tears off my face.

I remember the times she would sit up against a wall and start licking it. (weird, huh???) I also remember the time that James pulled a toy gun on me for pretends when I got home from work and she barked and snarled ferociously at him.

Simba was put to rest on November 28, 2005. She had been suffering arthritis for two years and the past few months had gotten worse to where sometimes she was unable to stand up.

Simba was a good dog and loyal to the end. I will miss her, my baby. Never will there be another dog like her.

Cloud Nine Sweater

Well, I started it yesterday and finished it today. If I had sat down for one straight time it probably would've taken me about three hours to do. The pattern was easy. I don't think I will be using Baby Clouds yarn again though. It was a nightmare to sew with when sewing the seams of the sweater and weaving in the ends. It keep tugging and tearing. Also, I don't think I like this pattern very well. It was written great and all but there were things about it that I would've changed.

It had ch-3's at the turn of each round and I would've used ch-2's instead. The ends of the rows now have gaps from this. Also, the pattern used the turning ch's as the first dc's and I don't think I would have done that. This also helped in creating those gaps.

Also, the pattern said to use an "N" hook which they say is 10.oomm. I bought an "N" hook and mine is only 9.00mm. I actually found a second "N" hook today in my hook basket and it also said 9.00mm. I started another pattern today put out by Red Heart (same company as the Baby Clouds pattern) and it said the same thing. "N" hook = 10.00 mm. Now this throws my guage off. I am trying to adjust it for this pattern though since I know the problem now.

Anyways, all in all, the sweater turned out pretty cute and I will definately have something to put on Chloe when we go out in the cold. (especially up north this coming winter.)

Doesn't she look like an angel in her fluffy cloud?

I still have to add the buttons but I will be buying those later and I had to get this picture up for everyone to see. (a little bit of my impatience shows through.)

Well, some bad news for today is that tomorrow is the day we have decided to put our dog Simba down. I am a bit sad about this as she is technically my dog. (James got her for me.) She is 11 years old and has arthritis very bad. Sometimes she can't even stand up and then gives up and lays back down. That is the saddest thing on the face of the earth to watch. Someone giving up because it hurts too bad.

Well, anyway, tomorrow the deed will be done. I called my girlfriend Ashlie and she said that she would come over to help me keep my mind off it. I don't want to be sitting around the house thinking about it. So, we are going shopping with her mother.

I am thinking that I need some new shoes to go with all those new clothes I bought last week. I need some brown shoes to go with my brown outfits, and some kind of cool shoes with pink accents to go with the pink clothes I got. I am tired of wearing the same shoes every day. I have worn the same dress shoe to church since highschool. (and for me that was about 8 years ago.) So, I am in need of something a little more funky or trendy to accessorize my wardrobe.

We ended up not getting all our Christmas lights up yesterday. It started raining. We had a tornado warning today but nothing happened except some strong winds. Maybe we can get the rest of them up tomorrow. I am excited though because the ones we have up look soooo good.

I attempted to make my own chili today. Without a recipe!!! I am so proud of myself. I just kind of made it up as I went along. It turned out really good. Even James liked it!!!

Well, off to work on my dear mother's Christmas gift. Oh!! I can say what it is here because she actually picked it out. I am making her a poncho in Red Heart Tiki yarn. Very pretty. I will not be posting a photo of it until after Christmas though since I don't want her to "see" it.

Motif Handbag Complete and other things

I am so excited. I finished this Motif Handbag for my girlfriend Ashlie for Christmas. I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I have yet to line it and am still deciding whether I even want to or not. I think I was supposed to block it to before I sewed the pieces together. It is kind of lumpy. I may try to block it now even though it is sewn together. Might work...might not...how else will I learn except to try it.

So, post a comment and tell me what you think of it. I wish I could take really nice picture of my things like they do at crochetville. Some of thier pictures look like they were taken in a studio. Etaria over at www.crochetgarden.come takes beautiful pictures too. I don't know how they do it!!!

Well, Thanksgiving went great here. We spent the day just lounging around and not doing much of anything. I worked a bit on that purse during the day and made some cranberry cheese bread and some regular homemade bread. And NO!! I did NOT use a bread machine. I am old-fashioned and kneaded it with my own two breadmakers that the good Lord blessed me with and let it rise on my counter top. I tried a new thing this time though. I shaped the loaves into two rounds and baked them this way. It didn't work so well though. They kind of sank while baking and then spread out. It was still yummy though.

We went to our friends house for dinner. I have mentioned Ashlie on this blog before. (She is the one I made the purse for.) Anyway, Ashlie and Laura live at home with their parents and they have thanksgiving dinner every year at thier house so they invited us over. It was fun. There were a few other people there from our church too.

Mrs. Blair had a little horsey thing that they put Chloe on while I wasn't looking. I walked around the corner to find this.

I had to get a picture of it when I saw it. It was just the cutest thing. Chloe was so pleased with herself too. She had a great time on her horsey.

What a doll!! I just love her.

She's not quite ready for it but she thought it was great anyway. Teach them young...right?

Well, I had better get off this computer. We are putting up Christmas lights today. Icicle lights all around the outside of our house. Maybe I will even take a picture of them tonight to show everyone. It will be beautiful.

Two More FO's

I did it!!! I did it!!! I did it!!! I am so totally excited!! (I'm dancing around my house...well, I was until I sat down to type this.)

What did I do??? I finished a Christmas gift. No more cross stitch pictures. (except for one but that cannot be mentioned here...shhhh!!!!!) Here is a picture of the cross stitch I finished today.

I am so glad to be finished with it. I have a terrible headache today and I think it is from too much eye strain. All this cross stitching in a hurry business has got to go.

I just have to work on my "special project" and then I don't think I will cross stitch for a very long time. Crocheting is so much easier on my eyes and it is so much more relaxing.

Actually, cross stitching would be relaxing too if I just took my time about it. Same goes with crocheting. If I just took my time with my crafts, I am sure it would be relaxing. But there are just too many wonderful things I want to make and not enough time in my life. Hopefully, when I get to heaven, I can craft away forever. I would love to make people things for eternity. That would be bliss.

I sure hope that everyone likes thier presents this year. I have put a lot of thought into what would be a good present and I think these cross stitch pictures are just the thing.

I finished another thing today too. I had started a poncho the other day. (when I wasn't supposed to, mind you.) It is also done. Once I had a large chunk of time to devote to it, it actually went pretty fast. It was the same stitch over and over. Here is a picture of it.

I used Red Heart Lustersheen and a G hook. The pattern is called Shells and Roses Poncho and was a free leaflet put out by Coats and Clark at Hobby Lobby. ( they should put a couch in that store since I practically live there.)

Now I started on a new project. The purse I am making for my friend Ashlie. I am using this pattern and size 10 thread in turqoise with a size 5 hook. Here is a picture of one of the motifs.

The thread looks blue here but it is really a bright tourqoise. Really pretty. I think my friend is going to love it. I am excited about it. This is the most fun I have had making a gift in a long time. (not including my "special project".)

Well, Chloe has been sleeping in the playpen for two weeks now for her naps. The first week I put her in it for just one nap. Last week I put her in it for both naps. This week I put the playpen in a different room. The first nap of the day she screamed for thirty minutes. I gave her an extra 10 minutes to get to sleep on her own or I was going in to rescue her. She ended up going to sleep in about 7 on her own. The second nap was a lot easier. Next week I am going to try putting her in different rooms of the house for each nap. Then the following week I think will be the week I try an all nighter. I will need lots of prayer that week since it will be a long night the first night or two.

Well, off the work on that purse and get something to eat. My tummy is rumbling.

5 Down...Too Many to Go!!

I must be losing my mind. (or it already got lost a long time ago) I've added even another project on my growing to do list for Christmas. I have decided to make this pattern or this pattern for my girlfriend Laura. She loves piggies and last I knew, she collected them. So, I hope I can get something done for her in time for Christmas.

I finished a cross stitch picture last night for Christmas. This one will be going to my brother and sister-in-law in Papua New Guinea.

It is such a relief to have one more picture done. I have two left unless I don't make the one for my friends in England. I really want to but if I don't have the time then I won't be able to. Family is most important.

Here is my updated Christmas list.

  • Two cross stitch pictures
  • "special project" for hubby
  • Treasured Moments Keepsake Dress (for sister's baby)
  • purse for friend
  • piggie item for friend
  • poncho for Mother

We have run up against a problem, which is why I am stressed out a bit more than usual today in regards to getting these gifts done. Its not actually a problem in the sense of the word, merely a dilema for me. I have mentioned that our friends from England are coming to visit for three weeks starting the 16th of December? Well, there won't be any time while they are here to finish Christmas presents. So this means that I have exactly four weeks (to the day) to get this whole list done. (and some of these things are quite time-consuming.) Well, last night, James informed me that my Father-in-Law will be here to visit the 3rd through the 8th. A whole week. Not that I won't be glad to see him or anything. It will be his first time to see Chloe. I am actaully quite happy that he wants to come. Its just that will be a whole week taken away from crafting these gifts. I know I will have a bit more time while he is here than when our friends are here but I just wasn't expecting it. That's all. So, I basically have 2 weeks to get these gifts done.

Our friends will be leaving back to England on the 4th of January. Then James deploys on the 6th. At that same time, I will be leaving for Washington to spend those five months with family. So, needless to say, the next month and a half will be extremely busy for me.

I have also updated my WIM's list. Here that is. These are things I would like to work on after Christmas. (I may need a little break though....although I might be so in the groove I won't be able to stop...Oh No!! Help me!!)

  • poncho for me
  • knee lenght sweater for me
  • Baby Chenille sweater and hat for Chloe
  • regular sweater and hat for Chloe
  • afghan for Chloe
  • embroidered tea towels
  • lapghan for newphew (per sister's request)
  • shawl for me
  • cross stitch growth chart for sister's kids (peter rabbit)
  • crocheted bookmarks for birthdays this next year
  • kitchen sets for Christmas next year
  • baby girls pantsuit outfit in thread (to design)
  • two scarves to design (rose collection)

And so the list grows. (more and more everyday) Can I get is all done? That is the question of the year. We shall see. At least some of these are smaller things that should only take a day or two.

I bought a pattern book yesterday. (yes I actually BOUGHT a pattern book.) I have decided that in order to have the really nice patterns, I will need to buy them. (or have other people buy them for me for gifts...that hasn't happened yet...but one can dream, can't they?) Anyway, this pattern book is of afghans for kids. Girly afghans though. They are floral in nature and absolutely gorgeous. They are not really "baby" afghans. I want to make on for Chloe for her first birthday. She will most likely have outgrown her baby afghan at that point and these are just to beautiful NOT to make.

Well, time is money as they say and I should not be sitting on this computer typing my life away when there are so many projects that call.

HELP!!!! I'm going cross eyed!!

I have been cross stitching for the past week now. I am almost done with another Christmas present and once I am finished, I will post a picture of it here. I doubt anyone who would be recieving one of the presents will be reading this blog so I am perfectly safe for now. I have also been working on DH's "special project" every afternoon for about 1 1/2 hours. This is during Chloe's second nap and the largest chunk of time I have during the day when dh is gone. I am getting along nicely on it and might, just might, be able to get it done in time for Christmas. I am thinking though, that if I can't finish it completely, I will still give it to him. I will be able to at least get most of it done and the rest of it is not noticable anyway. I will just finish it up after Christmas.

My fingers are starting to cramp up though from all this stitching. I had worked on that thread dress for Chloe the week prior to last week and so working with cross stitch right after that has thrown my fingers into total turmoil. I sure hope they forgive me. (after Christmas though.)

I am so naughty. I can't believe myself. Just when I thought I wouldn't be able to handle all the Christmas presents I have to finish in just 4 1/2 weeks time...I go and add two more. Yes!!! Two more. So, I didn't care for the crewel picture I was making my mother so I asked her if I could make her a shawl or poncho instead. (actually with...I'm still giving her the picture.) She said yes and I sent her some links to ponchos she might like and she choose one and picked out a color and everything. Now she is really excited and actually wants me to maybe teach her how to make another one when I visit in a couple months. Okay...here's the problem...after finishing the crewel picture completely...Me thinks me likes...me hubby likes alot...So, I'm giving it to her but also have to do this poncho too. (a promise is a promise.)

Then to make matters worse, I had an idea day before yesterday that seemed brilliant at the time. (note to self...when inspired by brilliant ideas...pause...breathe...don't do it.) My girlfriend Ashlie (the one I taught to crochet that baby hat and bootie set) loves (and I mean LOVES) purses. And not just any purse. She likes the Bling Bling!! Take in consideration her current mode of money transportation. A bright silver space age bag. You can see this thing a mile away blinding you. James says it looks like she made it from tin foil. (and being the modest one that she is, replies "yes!") Anyway, after a conversation last night with her about her sense of style, I have decided on just the purse for her. This one!! I ordered some medium bright green thread to make it from www.herrschners.com. I am pretty excited to make this purse for her. Seeing as how much she loves purses and how much she loves things that are different. This will truly be different. I am actually thinking of making myself one. (after Christmas of course...what do you think I am...crazy???)

It was everything I could do today to keep myself from crocheting. I was very good and kept myself on track though and worked on those cross stitch pictures. Talk about dedication!!! I am actually growing up!!

Here is a picture of my precious baby girl showing her love for books. I can't believe how at such a young age, she has so much interest in them. I have been reading to her since she was a week old though so it is quite understandable. I read a book or two to her everytime I put her to bed, either for naps or bedtime at night. I am an avid reader. (or actually I once was but had to give it up more recently for more important things(okay...okay...so I think crocheting is more important than reading...so sue me!!) I am just glad that this reading gene passed on to her and I hope to instill it even deeper in her as she gets older. I truly believe that reading is what gives your imagination wings. (and some people have even commented on how far reached my own imagination is...this is good, right???)

Chloe's favorite book right now is 5 Little Ladybugs. She loves to touch the little raised up ladybugs on the pages. She even giggles when I stick my fingers through the holes on the opposite pages and try to touch her fingers.

Isn't she just the cutest. Her new favorite game is to take some books off the shelf and sit on the floor surrounded by them. She can actually be quite choosy about which books to take off the shelf though. My sister gave her a little plastic photo album from the $1 store with pictures of her three kids in it and Chloe love to eat it.

Well, guess who just woke up from her nap. (yup, my princess!!) And princesses need to eat too. So, I must be going before princess turns into monster, growling and snarling for food. (yes, even the sweetest of sweet princesses can turn into these monsters when not fed when hungry.)

FO Finally!!! Yippeeee!!!!!

I am so excited. I finally finished a project today. It seems like forever since I finished anything. (so, its only been a little over a week but that can be a long time when you are three months behind on Christmas gifts.) The project I finished is my mother's gift. That lady done in crewel.

Well, I wasn't liking it as I was doing it. I did the yarn part first and boy did that look horrible. I then did the floss part and those flowers looked better than the yarn ones but I thought the whole picture looked as if a second grader made it. I was about to call it quits today and I called my mother and explained the whole situation to her. She said it was up to me and it probably looked better than I was saying. Well, I told her that I would send it to her anyway and let her decide but that since I didn't like it, it wasn't going to be her "Christmas present".

This is what I finished. Now that it is done and has all those little details that take a long time but add so much, it actually doesn't look as bad as it did this morning. I think I kind of like it. I just wish my stitches were nicer but hey, this is my first time doing crewel so cut me some slack, won't ya?

Here is a picture of the finished project. I know my mother reads this but she already knows what it is anyway. (hey, and maybe she will forget to read this blog...seeing as how I have two and sometimes she forgets things like that anyway.)

Now I just have to find a frame that will do the picture justice. I looked and looked in Hobby Lobby yesterday but no luck. (James was waiting for me too so I didn't have a lot of time.) I only browsed thier clearance frames that were half off but there wasn't anything good. They actually had the perfect frame but it was sideays from how I needed it. (it had an easel back so I couldn't make do.)

I worked on the "special project" again last night and tonight. James went to work at the Franklin Graham conference so I had a couple of hours to work.
Bad News...Bad News...Bad News...........
I almost got caught last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it!!!!!!!!!!!I have managed to keep this secret for almost a year now and to get caught about a month away from Christmas would be tragic!! Who knows!! He might even know what I am doing without me getting caught.

Here's what happened. He had told me that he would be working at the conference until about 12:00 or 1:00am. So, I thought that at 11:30 pm I would put away everything and climb into bed and be asleep by the time he got home and he would think I had been sleeping the whole time. He had walked to the conference and I had asked him to call home before he left to walk home so that "I wouldn't worry" about him walking home at 1:00 in the morning. Well, at about 10:30, lights pull up in the driveway and I am sitting on the couch in full view of the window. (curtains drawn, of course) I knew it was him so I made a mad dash and scooped everything up and ran into the office and threw it up in my "hiding space". When I went to greet him at the door, he mentioned that he saw me dashing about and knew that I was hiding something. My heart was pounding a million beats a second at this point and it was all I could do to remain calm. (like he doesn't notice everything...) I wouldn't tell him what I was doing and just acted like I was being naughty for staying up late instead of going to bed. I pretended that was what I was hiding. (he knew better but didn't push it.)

Anyway, now I am hoping that he doesn't figure it out but I am sure that he has. I know him. He is one smart cookie. He probably knows and was totalyy shocked but didn't want to let me know because it was such a great surprise. He will tell me after he opens it at Christmastime that he knew I was making it. I will ask how? And he will say..."remember the time when I came home early..." There is hope beyond hope that he doesn't know. I mentioned to him later that I didn't want to tell him what I was doing and he said "is it something I asked you not to do?" I lied. (sorry mom!!!! I really am but this has GOT to stay a secret and I always knew there would come a time when I would have to lie to him to keep it a secret.) I hate lying but this is very important. Hey!!! Its Christmas!!! Can't ruin Christmas, can I?

So, I worked on it again tonight. He had better come home early again because I didn't want to take any chances, so I put it away at 10:00. I might get an hour tomorrow night to work on it and then it is back to Chloe's naptime as my only time to work on it. He is going hunting next Saturday morning so I will try to get up early and work on it before Chloe gets up. I have the feeling I am going to have to pull a couple of all nighters to get this one done in time.

I took a picture of my workbasket today. Just thought it might be interesting for you to see my current WIP's. Now these aren't the ones that I haven't touched in a while. These are my current projects that I am working on now or have in the past couple of weeks. (all except for my thread tablecloth. That is in the very bottom of the basket.

In it you see a bunch of thread for different projects I have going. I have the Treasured Moments Keepsake dress I tested the pattern for www.crochetgarden.com in there. I also have the one I have started for my sister's baby. I have the poncho/capulet I started yesterday for myself in there. (I know, I know...what am I doing starting projects when I am behind on Christmas gifts? Well, join crochetville and you will see why. There are so many people there creating so many beautiful things and I just had to have one.) I put it down again. Don't worry. I am going to get these Christmas presents done if it kills me. (not really, mom!!)

Do you see the cute little fabric bag thing in the basket. My wonderful mother made that for me per my request. She had made me one when I was a girl and in my moving about it got left in a house I lived in. So, I asked her to make me another one and being the kind and loving mother that she is, she did. It is a little bag that opens up and folds out like a book. Inside are plastic ziplock bags sewn in that hold my embroidery floss. On the two "covers" there are pockets to put whatever project you are working on and your scissors and things and it even has a built in pincushion. My mother always says that she has tried to sell things that she makes and no one wants to buy what she makes. Well, Mom!!! I think you should sell these on ebay. I think you could make some money. They are practical and pretty!! Just my two cents worth.

I have some WIM's I thought would be good to get written down. I always am thinking of things I would like to make and never remember them. (cause I think of so many things...I probably have projects thought up to last me the rest of my lifetime making.)

My WIM's

  • embroidered tea towels
  • lapghan for newphew (per sister's request)
  • shawl for me
  • cross stitch growth chart for sister's kids (peter rabbit)
  • crocheted bookmarks for birthdays this next year
  • kitchen sets for Christmas next year
  • baby girls pantsuit outfit in thread (to design)
  • two scarves to design (rose collection)
I could go on and on but it is getting late and I can't think very well when its late. I am going to go make me a cup of coffee and work on a Christmas present. I started another one today. I only have three left. I have less than five weeks until our friends from England arrive and then i will have no more time for anything.

Have a great night everyone.

The End of the Day is Here

All I can say is that today has been very trying for me. I won't get into how that has been because I don't want to bog everyone down. Its just been one of those days where I feel that I cannot do anything right for nothing. I am ready for tomorrow to come and be here.

I thought I would post a couple of my poems for you all to read. I wrote them a couple of weeks ago but never posted them on my other blog like I wanted to so I will post them here.

My Battle

Anger.
Greed.
Slander.
Taking over me.
Love.
Gratitude.
Joy.
Hard to see?
For me.
Selfishness.
My spirit weakens.
Losing control.
The old nature wins.
Forgiveness.
Fresh start.
Old habits,
Creeping back in.
Pride.
Hatred.
Rage.
I slip up and fall again.
A voice.
A face.
My eyes look upward.
I reach for the outstretched hand
of my Savior.
Hope.
Peace.
Someday.
Someday I will be perfect.
Not today.
Today I am me.
Struggling. Two wills.
A battle.
Who will win?
The new creature.
My new self.
Jesus made me new.
Jesus gives me strength.
I take a step.
One step.
I am closer.
Tomorrow I will take another.
I will fall again.
I will rise again.
A battle will be lost.
A battle will be won.
A promise.
God's promise.
We will win.
We will triumph.
-Anna Ness

So, that's it. I don't think it is one of my best but it has a nice cadence to it.

I worked on my mother's Christmas gift again today. (I am so proud of myself for that.) I was kind of hoping I would get it done today but no such luck. I am to a point now that is slow going. Maybe it will be done tomorrow and I can cross that off my list of projects to finish in the next five weeks. I wasn't able to work on my "special project" today at all. I had some other things I had to prioritize today. I have a planned time tomorrow to work on it though. I can't wait til it is done and I can get a picture of it up for everyone to see. (of course, that will be AFTER Christmas so DH doesn't see it.)

Chloe is growing up so much this past week. She is actually laughing more and more. (I was getting kind of worried.) She smiles and holds her mouth wide open a lot but no laugh. Anyway, I was able to make her laugh out loud quite a bit this week. She started saying ma-ma-ma-ma this past Sunday. I don't know if that counts as Mama yet though. I have a sticker to put on her calendar when she says Mama. Should I wait until she actually know what she is saying when she says it? I think so. Her second tooth is almost ready to come in. In fact, I am a bit suprised that it hasn't yet. Her appetite has been next to zilch for the past couple of days. I actually fed her some formula in a bottle tonight because I was a bit worried that maybe her problem is my milk supply and she isn't getting any. Nope. She drank one ounce and that was it. (from the bottle.)

I am quite lucky that she takes the bottle. I was supposed to start her on it when she was about two months old and just give her one feeding a day with it but that stopped shortly after I started. Most babies who wait this long refuse to take formula or even drink anything from a bottle. My sister had problems in this area with her son. But Chloe took it and knew exactly what to do with it.

Well, it is getting late and I would like to get up at 6 am to get my devotions and shower done before Chloe gets up. I didn't make it this morning since I was up so late last night. I really want to do it tomorrow so I had better get to bed soon.

Have a great day and do something spontaneous today!!

New Picture I made

Here is a picture I took a few weeks ago and edited today in photoshopcs. I really like how it turned out.

Gotta go to bed now. Good night.

Busy Day, Busy Day

Busy day but I feel like I got NOTHING done. That is a horrible feeling. I have spent a lot of time today looking up HTML codes and dinking around on this blog. I didn't get much done except I added a link on the sidebar to a new photo album I made. I am putting only my crocheted projects in that album. When time permits, I might add another album on there with some of my other projects and a link. Doing this link pretty much took me all day. Now I know how it is done though so it should be quicker next time.

I actually worked on something I am supposed to today. I started work on my mother's Christmas gift. She had bought a crewel kit at a yard sale this past summer but she doesn't do that. She thought that since I cross stitch, I would be willing to do it for her for Christmas. I told her I would try. I got it out today and started on it. I have to say that it is going pretty quick. I will most likely have it done tomorrow or the next day. I don't really like doing it though. It would probably be nicer if I knew how to do it well. Can't get there unless I practice though. The yarn in this thing is terribly rough though. It hurts my fingers using it. It breaks really easy. I don't know if this is a really old kit and that is the reason for this is if they all are like this.

I have no pictures to show you today. Maybe I will take one of the crewel project tomorrow. My dh will be going to a meeting tomorrow night and so I am planning on getting out that "special project" and working on that tomorrow. I need to make a run to Hobby Lobby tomorrow also to pick up some blue aida cloth for the Christmas gifts I am making this year. I am cross stitching pictures of snowmen. They are actually quite cute with cute sayings on them. I will try to get some pictures in an album tomorrow to show everyone the ones I have finished. I have four finished and hope to get three more done in the next 5 weeks. That in addition to my "special project", my mother's gift, knitted hat for dh's Christmas stocking and some other little things.

Christmas Project List
  1. Four Cross Stitch Pictures
  2. Knitted hat
  3. Crewel picture
  4. "special project"
  5. Treasure Moments Keepsake Dress #2 (for my sister's baby)
This list doesn't seem so long once I write it out like that. (of course, I could be forgetting something...that very well could happen and has been known to happen in the past.) Of course this doesn't include other projects I have going or any WIP's or WIM's. I have many WIM's.

Well, I better be going tonight. I need to get to bed. I want to start getting up at 6:30 to have my devotions and get ready before Chloe gets up. Maybe even 6:00 so I can shower too. This depends on how early I can get to bed in the evening and tonight it doesn't look so early.

First Day of New Blog

Today I am starting a new blog. I have a current blog on yahoo 360 but I have seen many people with blogs here and they seem much better. I am a bit confused by all of this though. Things have changed drastically since I took computer classes in highschool. (which wasn't THAT long ago, BTW) All this HTML stuff and codes and buttons and forums and stuff is really confusing. I will try to get it down though.

The reason I wanted a new blog was because on other blogs I have seen, people are able to post multiple pictures as they type along. On my current one, I can only post one picture per entry and it has to be at the top. So, I am going to try to post a picture now.

Hey, it worked. This is a picture of the dress I tested for Etaria over at CrochetGarden.com. I just love all her patterns and am pleased that she allows me to test her patterns.

She is actually the one who inspired me the most to try out my own hand at designing patterns. I have designed two things so far. A scarf and a tank top for my baby girl. Both those patterns need to be tweaked a bit before I can write them out. The tank top especially. The straps are too big and fall off and I don't like the way the armholes look.

Here is a picture of my baby girl in the tank top.

Isn't she a doll? I love her so much. She is so much fun and the light of my life. (her and her daddy!!!) She loves being my little model, although now she has learned that the camera is something she can touch so she tries to touch it all the time. She won't sit still anymore for a picture. As soon as she sees the camera, she crawls towards me and starts grabbing for it.

So, tell me what you think of my tank top. Should I re-edit it or scratch it completely? It didn't really turn out like I had pictured in my mind. I would like to take it out completely and start over from scratch.

Right now I am working on a dress design that I like much better. I am not going to take any pictures of it till it is closer to completion if not completed all the way. That way, it will be kind of like a suprise.

I really shouldn't be designing right now. I have so many other projects to work on. I have three Christmas presents left to make and also my mother's Christmas gift. I still have half of a bonnet to finish testing for crochetgarden.com. I have a "special project" for my dh for Christmas that I have been working on in secret. I don't think he will read this blog but I don't want to mention what it is in case he does. Actaully, if he reads this, then he will automatically know what it is just by me mentioning it. Oh well. I really want it to be a suprise though.

Here is a picture of the scarf I designed.
I am calling it Cottage Rose. It will be one out of a collection of scarves. I want to make one called Cabbage Rose, Christmas Rose, Winter's Rose and suchlike. I am just waiting until I get this dress designed and some other things done. Also waiting on inspiration too. I have an idea for one of the rose ones. Not sure which one until I make it up though.

I had an idea today of an outfit to design in thread for Chloe. (my baby girl) It will be kind of like overalls and it will have a white shirt underneath. I think I want the shirt to be long sleeved so that will be a challange to make. I am already worried about how to do the sleeves on this dress I am currently designing. I am also trying to think of a good name for it.

I wanted to have a holiday collection of dresses with names such as Christmas Love, Sweetheart, Easter Rain, Freedom Belle, Thankful Memories but this dress doesn't really fit any of those names. So, I am thinking maybe something like Fairytale Dreams or Treasured Celebration. I don't know. I am leaning toward the Fairytale Dreams one. I kind of like it.

Well, this is getting to be long enough for today. I just really wanted to see how this whole thing works. I will get better at this and try to keep my posts more interesting. I am also running on about three hours of sleep from last night and it is now after 9 tonight so needless to say, I am pretty tired and want to get to bed.

Good night All.
