The Loss of My Site.

Not my sight...but my site. Yes, my website is down. We had experience some difficulties this week including the loss of my forum for about 3/4 of a day. Well, it would seem that I have outgrown my current server and so I was forced to opt to find my own server.

This means I now have to start paying for my website hosting, but while I have that added expense it also means that I will be able to do my own updates. My friend Debra has done a wonderful job with my site and I am grateful to her for all the love and soul she has poured into my site. But there must always come a time to close one chapter of a story and open the next. There is sadness in the close of one... but there is excitement and joy in the thrill of the unknown that is about to happen in the next.

Debra and I have become dear friends and I hope to maintain that friendship. If you ever want a gorgeous site built, you really must consider her as your website builder. She is delightful to work with and I am sure you will make a charming friend in the meantime.

So, the other night I ordered a website hosting package which I feel will work best for me. The site was supposed to have been transferred over easily and quickly but alas...that has not been the case. Yesterday morning the site went down and has not come back up. I am working with the hosts on this but I have not recieved any emails giving me any sort of information. Only that my messages have been forwarded to this department or that department.

So, in the meantime, I wait...and crochet. I will keep everyone updated here on my blog...in the hopes of the slight chance that my dear testers will read it and not be alarmed at the missing forum. I hope that it will come back up today...but that is only a hope. I have no word from anyone regarding this so I am sort of lost.

In crochet news though....I have finished a few items but I will show those to you in another post at another time. I will mention though that I have quit making Christmas gifts. I had a couple more to make but I stopped. The last three neices and nephews are going to have store bought gifts. They are from the side of the family that doesn't really like homemade gifts anyways and my own little family was starting to suffer from the lack of me (with all the crocheting I was doing) and so the decision was made after consulting James on this. He was perfectly fine with it. This means I am done.

Now, me being the sort of person I am...this does not mean that with my free time I have nothing to do. Quite on the contrary. It filled up rather quickly with other things. So, I am going to make Chloe a little cradle purse for Christmas. I bought her a tiny little doll to put in it when I get it done. We talked about it and we thought it would be a fun tradition in our family for James and I to each get a seperate gift for Chloe each year. We will get her a couple of things from the both of us, but then she will get something from JUST mommy and something from JUST daddy. I think that will be special. So, my gift to her is the cradle purse. You will have to wait until Christmas to find out what James is getting her. (don't ya just love surprises and suspense????)

So, I am finishing up a couple of Holiday RAOK's for the ville today and then I will get to working on Chloe's cradle purse. There is only one pattern on the internet that I can find. I am debating whether I should just make her this one...or to design my own. I was thinking one in thread would be stunning. I just don't know if now is the right time for me to tackle this project. I am so busy between now and Tuesday. (when we fly out west for Christmas) I have a scrapbooking crop to go to this evening. It will be the first time I have left Chloe with James to go do something girly and fun. I am nervous and excited about it. I have left her with him once before when she was about 5 months old so I could go grocery shopping by myself but other than that, I haven't left her with him. (or anyone for that matter.) We have left her once with James sister for Valentines Day last year...and then before we moved we left her with my best friend's mother so we could go out with our best friends for an evening. A couple of weeks ago we put her in the nursery at church so she has been there twice now. That is all we have ever left her before. So, you can see why I am a bit nervous today. But I feel that it is time. I need to get out and get refreshed with some girl time. I don't know the lady whose house I am going to very well...I only just met her a couple of weeks ago. But she seems nice and I think we are kindred spirits. Tonight will tell.

Well, I must be off. I have a desire to finish a doily I started, crochet a bookmark and finish a bonnet I started for Chloe. (a new design going into testing VERY soon.) Have a wonderful day everyone. I know I will!!!!

Delegated Insomnia

I guess that really wouldn't work though. Insomnia itself implies the condition of "trying" to sleep and in my case...well...I didn't even try to sleep. Sunday night I stayed up all night to get some things done. I didn't go to bed until last night at about 8:00 in the evening. I have done this before but not by choice. Sunday night I delegated as an all nighter...and boy am I glad I did. I didn't realize that what I was working on was going to take that long. But it did. And I finished it.

So, this is a post to show you all that I have done from Sunday until now. First, I made this stole for my Holiday Swap partner over at the Ville. More about this pattern will be coming shortly. (in a couple of days or thereabouts)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And I also made her a teapot cozy. Now she doesn't have a teapot...but that is part of the surprise of this...but you all won't be able to see that part of it.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This pattern is in testing right now. (it is flying through too so you just might see it soon.) I adore this cozy...in fact, I may have to make a few for myself. (if I could ever find the time...but alas...that is a dream, only a dream)

So, after the stole...I made this shrug for one of my neices. This is the biggest of the shrugs that I have to do for gifts. It is a size 6 girls.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is my Sweet Decadence Shrug pattern in children's sizes. (which you all are probably getting pretty tired of seeing...and I still have two more to make...he he he)

Nest I have two doilies I whipped up today. These both were extremely fast (which I am EXTREMELY grateful for...or I wouldn't be sitting here blogging right now) The first doily is for James oldest sister. It is a PK doily from the mini book called Dainty Little Doilies. (at least that is what I think its called...I will have to check on that.) I believe the name for this doily is Cosmos. (reminds me of the movie Sneakers...just the name...not the doily.)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The second doily is from the same book and is called Floral Filigree. (a fitting name I do think...) This is for James other sister.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

That is all I have made in the past 2 1/2 days (quite a lot though if you think about it) but that is not all I have to show you. I recieved some lovely snowflakes in the mail yesterday from one of my testers. She is such a sweetie. This was my Christmas gift from her.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I was also in a snowflake swap over at my forum and I don't remember if I showed you the snowflakes I got from there...so I am showing them now. (sorry if I did and my memory has failed. But you can never get tired of seeing beautiful things, right??)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And now I also don't think I ever showed you the last ornament I got from the ornament swap over at the Ville that I was in. So, here that is too.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Well, I have doilies blocking and tea brewing and it is a perfect day here. I am in a very romantic mood. An Anne of Green Gables kind of mood...you know those delightful moods when the whole world seems to be in love with you and the clouds are carrying you off into fanciful daydreams??? Yup...that is my mood for the day. So, I am off to rescue my child from her jail...opps...I mean crib and we will have a little book reading time with Harmony the Care Bear and Kitty the Kitty. (they love each other very much and have some nice little chats in high pitched voices every now and again...in fact, I hear such a conversation going on as I type.) I must not miss out on much more of this conversation...it is a delightful one. (the giggly kind...which are the best kinds)

Have a great day everyone. (and send up three cheers for me since I am almost done with the Christmas gifts. Hooorayyy!!!!)

Two More Down...a Billion to Go.

At least that is how I feel right about now. Next year we are DEFINATELY going back to one family per month for the whole year. Making ALL your Christmas gifts in Decmeber is just, plain silly. I don't know why I decided to do this. Maybe I thought it was brilliant...or that it would be fun. Well...maybe it IS fun...but its also a little hectic. Oh...to be organized again in my projects. I miss it. I WILL get back there...I will!!!

But I did finish two more gifts today that I thought I would show you quick-like before I "hit the rack". (my husband's phrase for going to bed)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I made the torquoise set and the lavender set today. (the pink one was from the other day) Anyways...these are too cute. I love them. AND, if you want to test them, they will be going into testing in a day or two so come sign up on my forum and read the rules and you too can be a tester. {smile}

I also started another Sweet Decadence Shrug today for one of my neices. I have one arm done. I hope to work on it a tad more before I "hit the rack" but that all depends whether my dear hubby wants me to "hit the rack" at the same time as he does. We kind of don't really know who waits for who each night. I am here crocheting or typing on the computer (in other words...doing things) and he is down on his computer or working with his tools (in other words...doing things) and we both claim we are "doing things" while waiting for the other person to go to bed. I think we are secretly hoping the other person will just "do something" for a little while longer so we can finish "doing" whatever it is we are doing.

Anyways, so I will work on this shrug is hubby "does" something for a little while longer. We really should go to bed though...it is late and we have church in the morning. But...oh...I am so behind on these gifts...just a few minutes more won't hurt, right???? (thanks for your vote. I KNEW you would let me!!)

Have a great evening everyone.

A Banquet

It is Cold. And not just any cold. It is REALLY cold. I am not used to this kind of cold. Wanna know how I know its so cold???? I woke up this morning with a bloody nose. Yes…at first I just thought it was just running because it was cold out. But when I sniffed and got a taste of rust in my mouth, I realized that it was not cold, but that it was COLD!!!!

But my bloody wake up call this morning is not what I wanted to talk to you about. First I give you some verses…

Luke 14:8-11
"When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the hose who invited both of you will come and say to you, "Give this man your seat." Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, "Friend, move up to a better place." Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow guests. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

While thinking about such things as banquets I was swept off into another one of my daydreams. This whole banquet thing excites me. I can hardly wait. Its going to be so much fun. You see…part of the whole reason this excites me is kind of the same reason why I long for a multitude of children. I have this picture in my head of a large table…nothing fancy…just a table with all my children surrounding it. We have all worked together to prepare this meal and we all have smiles on our faces and I feel so much love in the room.

This is also how I picture heaven’s banquet. The only difference being that while I may never have my brood of children on this earth (that remains to be seen) and if I do, they will most likely NOT be sitting around my table smiling because I just made them chop the lettuce for the salad and in heaven, we WILL be wearing smiles and we WILL be happy to be there.

Anyways, as I was daydreaming about this banquet that Jesus is preparing for me, I thought that it would be so much fun if I could help prepare in some way. Now the most obvious was in which a “woman” would help is to cook, right??? And I love to cook. So that does seem logical. But that is not what would truly make me happy. Oh…it would be a heart’s dream if I would be allowed to crochet the tablecloth for the banquet table. It doesn’t even have to be the whole thing. I would love to crochet just a small portion of it while others crocheted on it with me. Wouldn’t that be something??? And we could present it to Jesus for him to set onto the table. (and he might even crochet a minute or two with us…wouldn’t that be cool?)

Then it would be fun to walk through the fields with Chloe and James and Jesus and we could gather some meadow flowers to use for centerpieces of the table. Jesus could tell us stories about how he created the earth and what it was like to grow up as a carpenter’s son.

Ohhh…I can’t wait to get to heaven. It will be such a wonderful place. The biggest dream of all though is to sit in my mansion with Jesus and sip a cup of tea together while we crochet. I would have all my crocheting buddies over and we would have a little tea party.

Okay…but enough of the day dreaming. I could go on and on with my day dreams. I mean, come on…what else can I do while I sit and crochet for hours. Since hours is what I have been crocheting lately. I am sooooo far behind on these Christmas gifts. Man…why do I get myself into these messes??? I must like the excitement or something.

Well, yesterday I made a wrist band to match the head wrap I made Wednesday. This will be for my neice. (and also will be put into the Christmas Gallery)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I still have to put a button on it. It is really cute though. I plan on making two more for the other two older neices.

Well, then I pulled out my good ole PK doily books so I could start a doily for my sister. There was one doily in particular that spoke to me and claimed it was for my sister so I proceeded to crochet it. Well, I got about...oh...say two or three rounds into when I realized that this was not a one afternoon doily. No...it was more like a two afternoon doily. I really felt like it was the doily that never ends. Yes, it went on and on my friends. It is GORGEOUS though and I sure hope that my sis appreicates it. It was one of the most "intense" doilies I have ever made. There were so many intricate, special stitches. But the end effect was totally worth it. It is called Impressive and is from the book "Simply Delightful Doilies". I finished it this afternoon. Its not blocked yet though. Will work on that this weekend.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Now I have to be completely honest here. This doily is STILL not finished. But I am done. NO MORE!!! You see, the second to last round was all picots. At about Round 30, I started thinking that maybe I could end there and no one would no the difference, right? Oh no! I would. And every time I go to my sister's house, I would look at this doily and KNOW it wasn't complete. Well, round 39 was all picots. And let me tell you...this was a LONG round. It took me 30 minutes. So, when I read the instructions for round 40 and realized that it was also picots, I just could not fathom one more picot...let alone a whole round of them. Ugggg!!!! I am a fan of the picot but I can honestly say I was sick of them at this point. So, there is one round of picots missing from this doily. I am sure my sister will apprecite it anyway. (and what she doesn't know won't kill her, right?)

Now, the next doily I am going to show you was completed about a week and a half ago. This one is for my sister-in-law. It is another PK doily. I believe it is called Windsor Round doily and it is from the book "Absolutely Gorgeous Doilies". It too needs blocked.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

To prove to you that I am a procrastinator, I want to show you one of the reasons why I am behind on my Christmas gifts.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yup...this one is for me. Yay!!!! Another doily for my challenge. Hooray!! This is not the ONLY reason I am behind but it sure is one of them. I just felt like making one for myself. I made this at the same time as I made the blue one above. It is called Summer Sun and is from the book "A Year of Doilies". Not a PK doily...but then not EVERY doily can be a PK doily. (although ALOT of them are.)

As many of you know (and have come to expect) Friday is Play Doh day. So, this morning was no different. We got out the play doh for our "mommy time". I taught Chloe another important sculptering lesson today. The Ball. Yes...an important lesson in the art of play doh. Of course, she can't quite make them herself yet so I made them for her.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And then the fun began. I taught her to smash them while shouting "Hyaaaaaaaaaaah". She picked up on this quite quickly. (although her Hyaaaaaaaah was more of a Daaaaaa which sounded very much like Dieeeeeeeeee. Effective none-the-less)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And if it works for a some balls...it would be even MORE fun with lots of balls.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But then things just got silly. The hand smashing hyaaaaaah's turned into ball mutilation dieeeeeeee's.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Of course...you all know me...even chaos has to be organized mayhem...so I organized the mangled balls into groups.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

While doing this, Chloe decided for some reason that play doh feels good against the face. So she proceeded in rubbing a mangled ball all over her cheeks (and ears...and neck...and hair...and then I caught her right before she rubbed her "tongue".)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I bet you all are curious as to what I made since I do enjoy showing off my sculptering skills. In light of the Holiday season that is upon us, I sculpted a few little gifts. The picture came out horribly though. I am sorry.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Speaking of the Holiday Season that is upon us, I am SILL behind in Christmas gifts and sitting here on my duff typing about play doh scultuers is NOT speeding the process along any. In other words, I must get going. Its going to be a busy weekend.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Holiday Foods I Find Yummy!!!

With all these Christmas gifts I have been making lately and the Christmas cd I have been playing, I am beginning to find myself in the Christmas spirit once again. I love this time of year...no wait...I ADORE this time of year!!! It is one of my favorites. (this and Easter and my birthday and James birthday and Chloe's birthday)

Anyways, we get to go home for Christmas this year (Home being Washington state) and this has me really excited. As the day to fly out nears (that day would be December 19) I find the excitement building...anticipation of the wonders of Christmas and family ties and joyous celebrations of our Saviours birth flood my heart. (and this is the first time since I was in the 8th grade that my WHOLE family will be together in one place at the same time...and just in case you were wondering...that would have been about 14 or 15 years ago. A long time to not be together.)

So, in light of this excitement, I thought I would post 13 Holiday Treats I am really looking forward to this Christmas when I go home.

1) Turkey. (what's Christmas without turkey???)

2) Mashed potatoes and gravy. James doesn't like mashed potatoes and it seems kind of silly to make them for just me so I don't get them very often. (and you all wonder why I wasn 13 kids...its so I can eat mashed potatoes every night!!!!)

3) Fruit Salad (always been a favorite of mine)

4) Olives. For some reason olives taste different at Christmastime. They seem much more special. I guess God gives them an extra bit of shine like He does everything else during the season of His Son's birth.

5) My mother's chocolate mint cookies. These things are heavenly.

6) Divinity. If ever God had a favorite candy, this would have to be it. It really is divine.

7) Pumpkin Cookies. The kind with the butterscotch chips in them. Oh...they are soooo moist and sooooo yummy and soooooo good. (Please Mom!!!! Can you make me these??? or maybe I could make them myself when I get there???)

8) FUDGE!!! No Christmas is complete without fudge. It is a staple of the Christmas season.

9) Eggnog. Now I know many of you are saying "Yuck!!!" right about now...but I think eggnog is up there with divinity. Okay...so maybe not divinity, but it rates at least as good as mashed potatoes, if not pumpkin cookies.

10) Whipped Cream. The homemade kind. (although cool whip will do in a pinch) I can literally eat this with a spoon. It must have sugar in it or something because it is sooo good. While this may not be God's treat of choice, I do believe the angels choose this one. It is so light and fluffy like clouds.

11) Stuffing.(or dressing) There isn't anything like some good homemade stuffing cooked inside the turkey. (none of that pre-packaged stuff cooked in water for 10 minutes for me...oh no...stuff that big bad turkey and make it right!!!!) No Holiday meal is complete without the stuffing.

12) Green Bean casserole. Now this is not something I grew up eating. My mother happens to find this a very boring dish that is what poor people eat every night of the week. I don't really know what she is talking about since I never grew up eating it. But while living in the south (where this is a staple) I have found that I do love it at Christmastime. So I am hoping that I can talk my mother into letting me make some for our Christmas dinner.

13) Pumpkin pie. Or any pie for that matter...but traditionally you must always have pumpkin pie. And since we already have the whipped cream (see above) we are set.

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas. God bless you this season as you remember His Precious Son's entry into the world as one of us.

Half a Prayer Answered

Yesterday I asked you all to send up a little prayer for speedy hooks and silky yarn. Well, it would seem that half of that prayer was answered. I amaze even myself sometimes. Take a look at what I made today. (and yes...ALL of them were made today.)

First I made this little shrug for my neice. I adore this pink color...its sooo girly. She is a few months younger than Chloe. (3 months younger to be exact) I can't wait to see her in this shrug.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It is my Sweet Decadence Shrug for Babies that can be found on my site. I used Lion Brand 3 ply yarn for this though instead of the Royale fabric thread I used for Chloe's last year. It turned out cute...but this was where I learned that the second half to my prayer was not answered today. This yarn was rough...so rough, in fact, I could feel my fingers chaffing as I crocheted. (not a good thing...it DOES hurt.)

No silky yarns to be found anywhere for me today. Nope. I even got out one of my faves (Sugar and Cream Kitchen cotton) and it too was like crocheting with hemp. (okay...so it wasn't THAT bad, but I am sure you can imagine what this felt like after the rope Lion Brand "thinks" is baby yarn.) I was still able to cruise through a sweater for my nephew with this "hemp". (which is natural like cotton so I guess technically they are in the same class???)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This is the largest of the two sweaters I am making for Christmas gifts so I am glad it is now out of the way. (it was a 24 month size) I again used my own pattern Cables of Winter from my site. (love this pattern...so quick and stylish...my nephew will be the envy of all. {grin}) Don't you just love those buttons? Can you even see the buttons in the picture??? Oh dear...it looks as if I need to get some close-ups for you tomorrow. They are the cutest little train buttons. My sister informs me that my nephew has a thing for trains. (and what auntie doesn't induldge in thier neices and nephews whims???)

I did have time for one more project today. While not as substanionally large as the last two projects...it still is worth mentioning. I designed a little head wrap for my neice. (older neice...pre-teener type)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I know I said I wouldn't show you all any designs until they were for sale on my site...but come on...its Christmas. And if I waited til this pattern was on my site, it would be after Christmas...so therefore it wouldn't be in my gallery. (and I wouldn't want any of you thinking that I left someone out because their gift wasn't pictured.)

So, neither James nor I think this is enough as a gift...so tomorrow I will be designing a wrist wrap thingie to go with it. Now all these pictures will also be added to my gallery so someday you can take a peak and see how far I have to go til completion. (the race is on!!!!)

Okay...I am tired...er...exhausted. I need some sleep so I can crochet tomorrow away as well. I am on a roll!!!! Do you think I can do it now??? Did you doubt??? Well, I think I have washed away some doubt today. (of course, don't mention that I doubt myself...I get tired of this sort of thing...so we shall see if I can continue at this pace without a dress or doily for myself thrown in there somewhere. Have a great evening everyone!!!

Pray for Flying Hooks and Silky Yarns

Pray like you have never prayed before. Alas...I have done it to myself again. "What's that?" you say? Well, it would seem that once again I have busied myself with everything but what I am SUPPOSED to be doing. Namely Christmas gifts. So, all the gifts that need to be bought have been bought. But what of those that need to be made? I have made three. Yes...three!!!! No problem if you have a small little family with only 3 people in it. But that is not my case. No, I come from a rather large family with siblings who got married and had kids. On top of that, I went and married someone with a large family - although not quite as large as mine - and they all went and got married too. (and had kids) So, you see...its quite a large amount of people we have to make gifts for every year.

Now usually I am one who starts making gifts in January. I make for one family per month and so I am done by September/October. Why was this year different? Two reasons really (although neither one of them are very good reasons.) One was that I started my business this year and have been designing and crocheting like mad to get that up and running. The other reason is I am procrastinator of the largest kind. I don't think there could be anyone worse than I...wait...I may have married one, but we won't go there.

Anyways, I was so proud of myself last night when we bought the very last gift on our list to buy. I sat down this morning to crochet up a gift and I started thinking about how close Christmas really is. We leave town on the 19th of December to go home. That means I have 14 days (now 13 since today is almost over) to get all the Christmas gifts done. Now the organizer part of Anna kicked in at this point and I started typing up a list of who all I still had to make gifts for. My list became the grand total of 14. No problem, right? But hold on a sec...that would make 14 gifts to make in 14 days. WHAT????? I am not the mathematical genius that others are...but I can match pretty well and 14 equals 14 anywhere you go. That would mean I have 14 days to get 14 gifts made. Oh boy!! Now you know why I wish for many prayers for flying hooks and silky yarns. (the flying hooks I am assuming you get...but the silky yarn would be so that it would slide through my fingers quickly...this stuff that splits horrible and chaffs my fingers is just no good - it really slows me down.

So, in light of this...I crocheted like lightening this afternoon and whipped up this shrug for one of my neices. It is my very own Sweet Decadence Shrug for Children's sizes that can be found on my site.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So, this is a test...you all can keep me accountable. Do you think I can get all these gifts done in the next 14 (well...now its 13) days???

On a side note, I received some lovely Holiday surprises from the ville for the Holiday RAOK.

First is a Christmas tree ornament all the way from Argentina!! Wow...that came a long way. Isn't it beautiful?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thank you Christmas Elf for the lovly ornament. Another little elf visited and left this wonderful dishcloth in my mailbox. What a great little elf. I need loads of dishcloths and so this is perfect.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thank you elves. You have made my Holiday Season bright and merry. I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness and generosity.

Well, now...I am off to cook some dinner and then we have a Bible study to go to tonight. Have a wonderful evening everyone. (and don't forget a teeny tiny little prayer (or even a sentence or a whisper) for speed in crocheting these gifts. {wink}

Prepping for Christmas

The preperations have begun. I have yet to add the post for the Christmas Gifts gallery to the blog so maybe I will work on that today or tomorrow. I have another doily done for another Christmas gift but I won't show you that until I have it blocked. Do you think I will get that done today??? It has yet to be decided. Just be happy that I am blogging in the morning today instead of saving it for tonight. I have been remiss in my blogging attempts lately due to the fact that when I postpone it until the family is settled in for the evning, it would seem that I settle in too. Thus, blogging is forgotten as I sink into sweet slumber. I will now make an effort to blog in the A.M. in hopes that I can keep up with all that goes on in my life. Not that anything very interesting goes on by comparision. I just like to chatter.

But back to the topic of the post. Prepping for Christmas. Now that Thanksgiving is complete for the year, I can now focus my attention on Christmas. I am one of those who has a hard time seeing all the Christmas "stuff" out before Thanksgiving. We live in such a materialistic world and it sickens me. It really does. Why do we have to spend so much money we don't have? Why do we feel that we HAVE to buy everyone gifts? It should be a thing of love. This is what I believe. I give people gifts from the love withen my heart...not because a commercial on television told me that every woman needs this diamond necklace to make them smile. Every kiss does NOT begin with Kay!!!! If they had taken kindergarden (which is a fairly common class to take) they would know that it begins with "K" which is a letter. I am sorry, but my husband kisses me quite often and I don't have a diamond necklace or ring with which to begin these kisses. And, mind you, they are filled with more love than I could ever dream for.

But again, I have drifted from the topic at hand...prepping for Christmas. What am I doing to prep for Christmas?? Well, I made some ornaments for the Ornament Swap over at the ville.

These were alot of fun to make. I got them out of that Christmas Thread pattern book I found in the used bookstore a couple of weeks ago. (I love that place) I fudged on these ornaments a bit though. They are supposed to be sachets filled with lovely smelling potpourri. Ummm...wouldn't that be delicious? Walking in the house and smelling the fragrance of cinnamon apple or mulberry spice wafting from the Christmas tree? But you see...I have a fear of sewing. And I didn't have any toule on hand either. (and you all know me and driving...)So, I just attached the backs of the ornaments to the fronts with nothing in the middle and I think they turned out just fine. What do you think?

Now I had two people to make ornaments for and there are three in the picture above. What was that third ornament for? Or who? I actually gave that to James' Aunt Evelyn when we saw her for Thanksgiving. I will tell you more about that adventure another day.

Anyways, I hope everyone truly liked these ornaments. I think they are so pretty.

Well now...let me see. I did recieve my ornaments for that same swap. I only have a picture of one of them. I will have to get a decent photo of the other one. (for some reason lately I have been unable to get decent photos of anything. Could it be that taking them in the dark is a bad idea????)

Isn't that darling? I love purses so this is really cute. A little white purse ornament. (and a great way to use that Fun Fur.) Thank you kelly g. I really appreciate your kindness. I will hang this on my tree and cherish it forever.

James laughs at me because each year at Christmastime, I sit him down and torture him with each ornament's story as I place it gingerly on my tree. I know where and when I got each ornament...whether it was given to me or if I bought it. Each one has a history and it has become my tradition to share it with James (and now Chloe) every year. He complains but the funny thing is...each year I ask him about the ornaments and he can't remember thier stories. So, I feel that I must continue until he can. (don't tell him I said this though...I kind of like it when he can't remember. It means I have another year to tell the stories.)

Well, it would seem that housework needs to be done EVERY day. (especially with a 20 month old tornado in the midst of it all) This means it is time for me to get off my duff and get to work. Have a wonderful day everyone. May you take time to remember the Reason for the Christmas season and delight yourself in the thrill of such a Love.
