The reason I picked the term "bubbles" is because little Chloe has been asking me every single day for the past month if we could go outside and blow bubbles. After a few days of me telling her "No, sweetie. Its too cold to blow bubbles." she finally started asking the questions differently.

"Mama? Can you put on my coat and hat and mittens and tights and boots and go outside with me and blow bubbles?"

I think the poor dear is ready for spring and warmer weather. Anyways, with bubbles on the brain its no wonder it was my top search term for the week. Have a wonderful afternoon and evening everyone.

Spring Blossom Sandals

I did it! I really did it! I designed some baby booties. Baby Sandals to be precise. I know I said I was giving up designing, but I just couldn't help myself. Let me show you my sandals and then I shall explain the sudden burst of designing inspiration.

That is the sandal in plum for a 6m size baby.

Those are warm rose sandals for an 18m size baby. They were a custom order through my website. She asked me to design some baby booties to go with my Spring Blossom dress she had ordered (and I made) a couple of weeks ago and this is what I came up with. I did modify the design a bit after I finished her set. I made the shell stitch around the sole of the bootie more "ruffly".

So, why the sudden desire to design another crochet pattern? Well, I have come to the conclusion the past few weeks that having a pattern testing forum is not for me. I was way too reliant upon my testers for everything. This was my own fault and something I feel terrible about, yet I have learned a valuable lesson thru all this. I need to test my own patterns thoroughly myself. Then, and only then, should I even consider asking someone else to test the pattern for me. And even then...I don't really need a testing forum to test the pattern. One or two testers is enough. (because I have tested the pattern thoroughly myself, you see.) That will also save me tons of time that was previously spent running the forum. So, I have designed the above sandal and I have tested it in every size. (more pictures to come later)

See? Now the whole designing process is reliant upon myself. I can design and test patterns much quicker this way too. I started designing that bootie yesterday and already the pattern is typed up and tested in every size. The only thing I have left to do is edit the diagram pictures and add them to the pattern. I should have it ready to sell tomorrow. (and in case you don't crochet, the booties will be for sale in my etsy shop.)

And now I must be off to shower and get ready for date night. Oh...and post my Etsy Find Friday! (can't forget that!) Have a great evening everyone.

Etsy Find Friday

I have found the best source for handmade cards. If you are looking for that perfect card, you must first visit dayhomemama's shop. She makes the most beautiful cards I have ever seen. This is the card I purchased from her last week.

Photobucket

Isn't it beautiful? I have to tell you...it is even more stunning in person. I plan on buying all my cards from her in the future. Just take a look at what else she offers.

Home Sweet Paradise (another beautiful shabby chic card)
Photobucket

She also offers little cards in sets like this Set of 4 Square cards in Blue.

Photobucket

Wanna make your own card but don't have time to shop for supplies? Need a little help in the inspiration area? She sells kits of supplies...everything you need to make your own card, like this Basic Grey Urban Prarie kit.

Photobucket

Another of my favorites is this Friendship Card...

Photobucket

...and this Amy Butler Purse set of 4. Oh how darling are they?

Photobucket

I'm telling you...these really are the cutest cards you have ever seen. And dayhomemama is a sweetheart to work with. You are gonna love her. (and her cards)She also blogs at dayhomemama too. I wish I could show you more but you are just going to have to go browse around her shop on your own. Have fun and hey! Drop me a line and let me know what your favorite from her shop is. Have a great afternoon/evening everyone.

Wishing for Spring

I wish for spring. I wish for warmer weather. I wish for no more dark, gloomy days with high winds that whisk me right off the sidewalk. Due to this wishful nature of mine I splurged and brought a bit of spring to my kitchen table a little early.

I am not the best flower arranger around. To be honest, I am not that good at all. But at least now I have something pretty to look at on my kitchen table and it makes me smile. I need that. I need to smile more. I hope you all do something for yourselves today that makes you smile. Have a wonderful day everyone. God bless you all.

Itchy Knees

A recent conversation between dearest Chloe and I...

Chloe: "My knee itchy Mama."
Me: "Oh. Do you need to scratch it?"
Chloe: "Yes."

pause

Chloe: "Do your knee itch, Mama?"
Me: "Nope."
Chloe: "Do your hand itch?"
Me: "Nope"
Chloe: "Do your head itch?"
Me: "Nope"
Chloe: "Do you ear itch?"
Me: "Nope"
Chloe: "Do you have buggies in your ear?"
Me: (after a chuckle or two) "No, sweetie. No buggies today."
Chloe: "Do you have rabbits in your ear?"
Me: "Hmmm...you know what Chloe? I think I just might have rabbits in my ear."
Chloe: "You need me to scratch your ear, Mama?"
Me: "Yes, Chloe. That would be lovely. Can you please scratch my ear?"
Chloe: "And I get the rabbits out, Mama."

Sweet Peach Cloche

Sweet. Dainty. Darling. Adorable. Perfection. Bonny. Exquisite. Precious.

I cannot find the words to accurately describe this cloche. I will just show you.

This is the newest addition to my Etsy shop. I will be making more as time allows. (this one is sized 18 months) I have been working hard lately at my photography. What do you think? Better? My goal for the next year is to recrochet all my designs as least once and get some bettter pictures on my website...now that I know how to get better pictures and all.

I started a second spring blossom dress in newborn size last night. I am off now to work on that for a few hours before I have to cook dinner and head to MOPS. (Oh, how I love MOPS) Have a wonderful afternoon everyone. Rejoice! The Son is coming!

Bloomers in Shades of Spring

I finally got some bloomers crocheted this weekend (and today) for my Etsy shop. I chose a non-traditional "baby" yarn for these bloomers. I have to tell you...this yarn is quickly escalating up my favs list. Naturally Caron Spa. Aside from the constant splitting, this yarn is a dream to work with. Gorgeous colors. Silky smooth texture. And the best part is its bamboo. Well, at least 25% of it is, the rest is acylic.

But just check out these bloomers. So perfect for that darling little girl when you want something different than the traditional baby pink, baby blue and lavendar. May I present to you Coral Lipstick.

Next we see the same bloomers in Green Sheen. A brighter sage green hue.

Now that those are listed, I had better get off this computer and get started cutting out Chloe's birthday dress. I only have a little over 3 weeks to get the whole party created and done. Whew! I'm vanquished just thinking about it. Good afternoon to you all. Have a gorgeous day!

A Heart Shaped Day

We had a lovely Valentine's Day. I woke up and fixed pancakes for the family. Not just any pancakes, either. Heart shaped pancakes. They taste better.

Photobucket

Then it was time to bring on the sugar. (as if pancakes didn't have enough) Conversation hearts covered the table with red tealights.

Photobucket

Reece's hearts mingled in with the conversation hearts for that darling husband of mine (who missed out on Reece's trees at Christmas so I HAD to get him Reece's hearts for V-day)

Photobucket

And then the big gift. Yup. I finished part of Chloe's Valentines gift. (the rest will have to wait til next year...schucks) Here is what I made for her.

Photobucket

Photobucket

She enjoyed her "treats" very much.

Photobucket

Now let me tell you about this pattern. I found it in an Etsy shop called BuggaBugs. She has some of the most adorable felt food patterns. I bought 5 and got a 6th one for free. I plan on making a couple of them up for Chloe's birthday. My pictures and sewing job do not do this pattern justice. I need to work on the little details a bit more. But let me tell you...Chloe adores her chocolates and I keep finding them around the house on various tables as she sets them out for everyone to enjoy.

I hope you all had a lovely Valentines day. I am off to crochet for a spell. Then maybe get some sewing done tonight as well. I am almost done with that jacket. Hopefully I will have it finished to show you tomorrow. Then I need to begin Chloe's birthday dress. Be prepared for something entirely pink!

Etsy Find Friday

I decided that I would have an Etsy Find Friday here on my blog. I spend hours a week perusing Etsy just to find what I can find. It is extremely fun and quite addicting. I thought you all might enjoy a little post once a week of the delights I find in my wanderings. They might be things I have purchased, things I want to purchase (which you better not purchase before I get to it) or just things I find intersting.

One of the ways I enjoy searching is by combing two random words and seeing what comes up in the search engine. Today I typed in "Tea Cloud". Here are some of my favorites that came up. (click on the pictures to take you to the store)

Set of 4 Curly Cloud Coasters

from the collected adventures of bbBarry. Of course I had to include these. For obvious reasons.

Photobucket

Sweet Cake

from A Fanciful Twist A very unique find considering I typed "tea cloud".

Photobucket

Cloud Cups

from Burntnormal I had to show you these cups. They are my most favorite find during my "tea cloud" search. Aren't they just unique? I love them and they have been added to my wishlist. I am wondering just exactly how I would drink my PG Tips from them.

Photobucket

Okay. So I must be off now to sew a gift for Chloe. I have the absolutelyest mostestly adorable Valentine's gift for her and I can't wait to show you all what it is. I gotta go make it though.

Tad Bit Late or Wee Bit Early

It would depend on how you look at it. If you simply take into account when I had planned on finishing this dress you might assume I am late. The original plan was for this dress to be Chloe's Thanksgiving dress. So, now we must make the decision as to which year the dress was intended for. Naturally, you could assume that since I started it before last Thanksgiving, it would have been for last year. But since I finished the dress last night, you could also assume that this dress was intended for next Thanksgiving. I don't know if I shall tell you which year it was for. She shall wear it next Thanksgiving and that's that. (and its a darn good thing the dress is too big for her so she will be able to wear it next year)

The button holes gave me so much trouble on this dress. I think its time to take the Bernina to the shop. While sewing the button holes, the machine won't walk my fabric under the presser foot. I am forced to walk it by hand which is a bugger, let me tell you. I put the dress aside for a few months because I ran out of patience. Completely out. It took me all of 15 minutes last night to get the button hole settings back on track and finish the dress.

So, now I am working on a dress I had intended to wear to the airport to pick James up when he flew home from Iraq. (yes...that would have been last October) Again, a simple mishap caused me to set the dress aside for 4 months and which only took me about 10 minutes to fix and move past. So, I aim to finish that dress today and maybe make the pinafore for the dress pictured above. I am already planning out Chloe's birthday dress. I have a little over 4 weeks to get it done. Its going to be pink with loads of lace and I am seeing a bit of ribbon embroidery in my mind's eye. Oh yes. Darling. But your just going to have to trust me on that until I get it started and finished. (Let's just hope its for this year)

Lovely Greetings

Chloe and I created a few Valentine's Greetings this morning to send to her cousins, friends and Grandma. Our table loaded up with supplies of every shape, color and texture and here is what we came up with.

Photobucket

First I cut out hearts of pretty scrapbook paper using a cookie cutter as my stencil. I had Chloe stamp on the white backside of the hearts and draw. (she traced the edges to make more "hearts") I folded up the hearts to form these little envelopes. We glued the corner down and then attached a tiny button with glue. These are very small little Valentines we can send in a regular envelope with a letter to her cousins for Valentines day.

Photobucket

Next we made little butterfly kisses for her friends she will see in person. We used heart shapes, glued the edges together to make the wings and added goggly eyes and a chocolate kiss. These turned out soooo cute. I think we will be making more as soon as she wakes up from her nap.

Photobucket

Now for Grandma. I cut out a ton of tiny hearts and had Chloe tell me things about her grandmother. I wrote her words on the hearts and had her glue the hearts on a bigger heart. Sort of a "conversation heart" idea.

Photobucket

Tomorrow I think we will make some decorations for the house. I will have to see what we can come up with. Have a blessed day all day long. Smile at someone near you today.
